Longarming Services

You’ve contacted someone about quilting your pieced top.  Now what???

• Talk about pricing.  Determine what is included – batting, thread, trimming, shipping, tax – and what isn’t included.
• Discuss a deadline.
• Ask about which one of you will trim quilt (perimeter) edges

• Do you need binding services? Discuss binding services & rates.

• Identify /provide inspiration images or quilting motifs you like and inform if there are any motifs that the longarmer should not use.
• Share thread color ideas and batting preferences.
• Confirm delivery method.

Prep quilt for quilting:

1. Assure backing fabric is 4-5” larger on all sides
2. Press backing seams open
3. Iron top and backing
4. Mark orientation of quilt top and backing (if necessary)
5. Remove any buttons/embellishments
